These were the words of Ceri and Phil Keates after their first ever talk at a FamilyLife’s ‘A Day Together’.
They got up in front of 17 couples at Grace Community Church, Manchester to share their story in the hope of inspiring and encouraging others in their own relationships. They described it as a ‘gut churning experience’ but are also so thankful for the opportunity to share what they have learnt in the 20 years since they met.
A big part of ‘A Day Together’ events are sharing the experiences of normal couples, from all different backgrounds who have been through lots of different situations in their relationships. The hope is that their stories will resonate with the couples that attend and inspire, encourage and give them practical, helpful ideas they might not have considered trying before.
Our speakers don’t hold back. They share embarrassing stories, things they haven’t done so well in their relationship whilst also celebrating when things have gone well. They go into detail and share specific stories of how they got through certain seasons or hardships. They certainly don’t shy away from the hard stuff.
One person who attended the day said: “The highlight was hearing the stories of the guest speakers. They were very honest in their delivery and gave us an insight into universal problems all couples face.”
Another attendee commented that their highlight was also, “Hearing differing perspectives and experiences from other couples.”
If you would like to hear Ceri and Phil’s story they will be at our Newcastle event on 12th October. For more information and tickets, click here.
